Definitely the best stay in Japan so far! The host and his family made us felt welcomed as soon as we arrived creating a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed a really nice tea ceremony conducted by the host’s mum. Our room overlooked an amazing garden, was very clean and spacious. We rent Yukatas for free, and the host was always so enthusiastic to help us taking photos. The ryokan has two private onsen, both very beautiful, but it is very well located to use any of the public ones too. Last but not least, the host drove us back to the station.

While not a typical ryokan, the location and price are very nice for Kinosaki. The room is very barebones, but the bed itself is comfy. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is nice. The room is quiet, and tucked away from the cafe / street below. You can rent a yukata for free, and they supply you with a rental towel and hand towel for the onsens. If you are planning on just going to any number of the seven public onsens, this is an affordable choice,

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Dinner and breakfast was served in our room and each item described to us as they were laid out. Our futons were laid out and packed away by staff. The whole ryokan was kept immaculate and we heard no noise at all. Geta, yukata, umbrellas and baskets were provided for going to and from onsens. An onsen pass was also provided from check in to 3pm on the day of check out. We were allowed to keep our towels until this point and our luggage was held after check out.

The staff are so very kind and friendly, they were a highlight of my trip. This is a great place for a solo traveller who would like to experience a ryokan and private onsen. They’ll even help you take photos in your yukata! it’s great. It’s not super luxe and modern, but the retro feel is part of the charm, it feels like a proper ryokan. Morizuya is popular for a reason, trust the reviews, it’s wonderful.
