Japanese-style rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding, while Western rooms come with beds and a sofa. All rooms all soundproof and air-conditioned, and fitted with a flat-screen TV, a fridge and an attached bathroom.

Service very good. Everything was explained to us in English (as we don't speak Japanese). And very detailed. Dinner and breakfast were really good..They took the effort to serve us different menus as we stayed 2 nights. Very organised.

Good lake view. Friendly staff . free drinks and desert on my floor. Excellent tea and grinned coffee beams ready in my room. Free drink in the afternoon happy hour. Both breakfast and dinner is an excellent quality. But the breakfast if you do not like fish, may be a question for you. Plus if you do not know how to grill, may be is hard for you to cock your raw fish.

With an additional charge (but totally worth it) it's possible to use the near hotel's baths, that have open air baths at different floor (the 8th and 11th are amazing!) I would totally come back if I can. Thanks so much for an amazing experience!

Set in Kyoto, 3.4 km from Shoren-in Temple and 3.8 km from Samurai Kembu Kyoto, 金閣荘 offers accommodation with air conditioning and access to a garden. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace.

Eikan-do Zenrin-ji Temple is 3.8 km from the ryokan, while Heian Shrine is 4.2 km from the property. The nearest airport is Itami Airport, 50 km from 金閣荘.

This is a wonderful place. The garden is old and exquisite, and while the house is traditional and quaint, it has a fully-equipped kitchen, modern toilets and comfortable baths. While it's a bit of a walk up the hill from the Misasagi subway station, the neighborhood is pretty, and there's a canal in a park. There's also a small grocery store right by the subway station, and it offers whatever a traveler might need for a decent meal or a pleasant bath.

Meals were served in the restaurant instead of in the room. The meals were delicious and deceptively filling (as in, you wouldn't think you'd get full but you do!). Our room was amazing with a great view. The in-room onsen worked perfectly.

What’s not to like… we had the best room in the ryokan, super spacious room, had a huge bathroom, shower and a private open air onsen. We had a living room and a bedroom, the space we had was probably bigger than our apartment back home! Dinner and breakfast was beautifully presented, I literally was so relaxed I lost myself there. Wish I booked it for more than one night!

I love that you provide halal food for both breakfast and dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the spread! Love the small supermarket and yukata provided to us. Love the view of Lake Biwa from our room and the spaciousness of the room. We were delighted that there is a private onsen in the room too.

Very wide studio room with amenities just enough for travelers. But get your own toiletries- toothbrush and paste, etc. The room was clean and no bad odors. The futon and sleeping sheets were clean and comfortable. I had a very good sleep after a long day of hiking. The building also offers an onsen for guests for free (I didn't try, so can't comment about it). The staff at the lobby was very accommodating, polite, and helpful. Thank you very much!

We specially arranged the Ryokan experience for mum, we enjoyed the aircon room with bathroom and private onsen, we chose our Yukata and wore it for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was the highlight and it's sumptuous! It's contradictory to me that this nice Ryokan is run by bunch of young people when most of my Ryokan experience was interacting with elder.
