Let me start off by saying: this place is beautiful. It's got the sliding japanese doors, futons, lots of Ghibli stuff. It's in a cool, quiet neighbourhood, in close proximity to a shrine. The owner made me feel welcome & at home straight away which as an anxious solo traveler I can appreciate twice as much. The facilities are clean, the house smells of wood, there's a cute dog. The futon was so comfy I overslept. Simply one of the best stays I had in a long time.

The staff were friendly, room was clean and well-sized. Location is great and directly next to the train station. Also had a lovely view of Niigata from our window. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and there was an onsen for hotel guests to use.
