Guests at Hotel Kasuga can enjoy a taste of Japan with the green tea and Yukata robes provided. Japanese-style rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and futon bedding, and all rooms come with an LCD TV and an en suite bathroom.

A nice authentic experience of staying in a Ryokan-style room. Both the private and public baths were lovely. The food was great and the waitress did a great job explaining for each course what we were having and how to eat it properly. The location was also great with the major sights and the deer in walking distance.

The staff went way and beyond to accommodate our needs- they were all super lovely and helpful. Especially the person who took us to our room and explained everything upon check-in and the person who ran after check-out to the bus stop to return our forgotten gloves! Wonderful onsen and traditional room - thank you

Tenpyo Ryokan offers free WiFi in all areas and Japanese-style accommodations with a spacious public bath. The traditional building is a 1-minute walk away from Exit 2 of the Kintetsu Nara Station, and a 15-minute walk from Isuien Garden.

It’s not a fancy place but the location is ideal and it’s very clean and if you’re accustomed to the size of rooms in Japan it’s very comfortable. It’s a great bonus to have the option of a bath. Single traveller should realize that the Japanese style rooms are priced for two people which is always the case but there are single rooms available with so-called western bed. One big bonus is the gentleman who seems to be the owner or manager. He’s totally on top of everything very nice.

Extremely friendly staff, the kaiseki dinner was delicious with a lot of variety, same for the breakfast (opted for Japanese style). Everything was clean, the room was amazing, clean yukatas and haoris were provided daily, the futon beds were very comfortable. This Ryokan is very well located as it's very close to the Kintetsu-Nara train station (with direct trains to both Kyoto and Osaka) and the main streets while still in a very quiet area. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in Nara, either for just one night or for a few days!

Checkin was smooth & you can choose your private 45 mins Onsen time. The Onsen is small but cozy with the necessary amenities. Plenty restaurants nearby and there is one nice cafe just a few steps away from Nara Ryokan. The food was delicious & price reasonable.

This place was exactly what I was looking for. A quiet ryokan with a private tattoo-friendly onsen. My room was big and the futon was very comfy. I appreciated the complimentary water and a kettle to make tea. Everything was so good, thank you! I will definitely come back.

My son and I loved this ryokan. We had previously paid $300 per night at a ryonkan of similar standard in Kyoto and this was almost as much value for a much lower price. The room was huge. The location was the best we'd had during our stay as it is right near the food market and main part of town. The staff were so lovely. The Onsen was wonderful although I recommend getting there soon after 5pm when it is filled as it cools down quickly. The futons and pillows were too hard for us but that is just personal preference.

The host was very friendly, kind and helpful! The room was spacious and in a beautiful traditional Japanese style. Located on a small and quiet street, but still close to anything you need. Toilet and bathroom are shared but very clean. Perfect for a one night stay in Nara if you want the traditional experience (sleeping in futon on tatami floors).

First time we had a traditional Japanese hotel room which was fun. We had the mural on the walls and sliding paper walls and futons on the tatami flooring. A low table, with chairs with no legs but backs to sit on to eat breakfast. We also had an enclosed balcony with western style chairs so we had options for seating. We had the traditional Japanese breakfast and really enjoyed that too. The hotel was situated right next to Nara Park so everything was very close. The staff were very helpful and accomodating.

Very luxurious Ryokan very close to the deer park which allowed us to explore the nicest area of Nara in the evening as well as early morning. The dinner was exceptional and they went above and beyond to meet dietary wishes. We had the room with private onsen which is definitely a recommendation!
