Note there are 2.8 miles of unpaved, dirt roads with some hills to get to the property. >>> OFF-GRID Embrace the off-grid experience as our glamping retreat operates without traditional utility connections. We do our absolute best to provide you with a comfortable, luxurious stay in the middle of the Chihuahuan Desert. >>> WEATHER Each tent has a split AC unit that provides general temperature control of the bed area, and a large, radiant propane heater for additional warmth in winter months. There's also a large ceiling fan in the bedroom for an extra breeze, and we provide a fleece blanket and electric blanket in the winter. Do note that because they are uninsulated canvas tents, the indoor temperatures will not match the levels of a fully insulated home. We always recommend checking the weather conditions prior to departing for your trip.>>> COMMON AREAS Guests have access to all common areas, including a group fire pit, hammock pavilion and future walking trails. >>> SECURITY The exterior landscape has recording devices to ensure the privacy and protection of guests. The interior of each tent has a Brilliant Control panel to control the lights, and has a covered, inactive camera. >>> OTHER Each tent has less than 10 low-rise stairs to get to the entry door. The interior decorations and views pictured slightly differ for each tent.

>>> ATTRACTIONS Explore a variety of options for hiking, local tours, dining, shopping, and other exciting activities close by in Big Bend National Park (BBNP). We are located in Terlingua Ghosttown, a remote, unincorporated community known for its mining ruins as well as its free-spirited desert dwellers, eccentric businesses, and annual Chili Cook-Off. Other nearby attractions include Big Bend State Park, Lajitas, Marfa and more. The closest grocery/supplies store (Cottonwood) and gas station (Alon) are less than 10 miles away from Camp Elena and conveniently on the way to BBNP. >>> GETTING HERE There are many options on how to navigate to the area, all involve driving, but can start off with a flight into Midland or El Paso or train ride into Alpine. Since there are many unpaved roads in the area, 4WD or AWD vehicles are typically recommended to maximize your experience, and sports cars and other low clearance vehicles are highly discouraged. Although rain is rare in the Chihuahuan Desert, please drive with caution when the unpaved roads are wet; typically it's best to wait for them to dry. It is recommended to carry a gallon of water/person/day. Google maps is the most effective method in navigating to the property. Download directions ahead of time as cell service can be spotty in some areas.
