Montalcino is a quiet hill town that we love returning to often. We love walking all around town. A 4 hour hike gets you to Sant' Antimo Abbey and then you can take the bus back to town. We love eating at Il Moro and at Osteria di Porta al Cassero as well as Re di Macchia. Great town at the winter holidays!

We stayed in Montalcino two nights, which was about right for people who like wine but aren’t fanatics. Drove all over, got lost, went to Montepulciano (very crowded, steep and hard to get to—was very glad we stayed in Montalcino instead!) enjoyed the Abbey de Sant Altimo south of town, not overrun by people.

If you wish to visit Tuscany, Montalcino is the ideal place to stay. It's a lovely, attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. This region also has a lot of good restaurants. It is nevertheless quite close to other important towns and sites that are far more touristic, so I would recommend this area if you want to have a lot of options without being in the most touristic and busy locations around.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants.
Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
Don't worry about the relatively few reviews - this was the highlight of my month in Italy.
- Beautiful 2-bed cottage on a small olive tree orchard overlooking Montalcino
- Cosy, fully furnished with big TV, wifi, modern bathroom - had absolutely everything you'd ever need
- Safe free parking onsite, and an easy 5-10 min walk to town
- Stunning views across the valley
- Quiet and peaceful
This felt like a home away from home, and the perfect base for exploring Tuscany. I can't wait to come back, thank you Elizabetta!
Great house located on the Main Street with a beautiful view. Rooms are great and very comfortable. Simone is great and informative about Montalcino, he took me to my car to pick up my bag in the pouring rain as the street the house is located on you cannot drive down without a permit. He then had me follow him in my car to the free parking lot before bringing me back to the accomodation. Lovely and hospitable guy!
Located in the historic center of medieval Montalcino the hotel is full of charm. Fantastic view from our window. The hotel has a good restaurant and is close to many other cafes, wine bars and shopping. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was exceptional. Free parking was provided. Super clean, comfortable and a great value.
We loved everything about this gorgeous, family run hotel!
We were blessed with the most stunning views from our terrace room and loved the elegant yet rustic charm. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and again, in such lovely rooms.
The staff are relaxed yet highly professional and extremely helpful.
We loved our stay!
We loved Montalcino and Albergo Giardino. Very good breakfast very cleaned. Nida is a fantastic person, she was so lovely with us. We had a problem with our car and she came to pick us up 20km from the hotel at 11.00pm and helped us find a solution for our car. A big hug from all my family!
I loved the room and it's interior. Lovely touch with a rustic combination. The staff super friendly. The breakfast was delicious and we sat on the table with a scenic view. Wonderful experience. The town where the hotel is at is pintoresque and lovely to walk and dine in the area.
Great location near downtown Montalcino and gorgeous view of the wine vineyard. Had a tasting of the property's own Brunello in the tasting room. Great breakfast included and relaxing weekend lounging at the property. The team at the property couldn't be friendlier.
Super modern and comfortable villa, amazing breakfast, great local recommendations by Simonetta and Lucia. And of course the lovely wine and wine tasting. Great location very near to Montalcino and various wineries.
EXCELLENT hotel! central location in a FABULOUS town. Professional, friendly staff,
good breakfast selections. Beautiful pool and outside gardens. Walking distance to all town attractions, shops & restaurants.
Great Hotel in the centre of town although the accommodation is part of the main hotel 50mts down the road, you have to leave your accommodation to attend breakfast
