Lovely spacious, well equipped, comfortable & quiet accommodation on the outskirts of the town. Great braai area & wi-fi. Aircon was appreciated when it was still 30deg C when we went to bed the 2nd night. Sue is a lovely, friendly hostess. We will definitely book again next time we visit Calitzdorp.

King size bed and crisp linen 👍 The glorious old tree in the garden 💚
Die Bakhius was great for a easy supper.
TTT wines and "the liquor that cannot be called Port" were excellent
The architecture is interesting.
The weather was exceptionally hot and you may, ideally, want to go in autumn or spring, for example, during the Port Festival

Challenged myself by walking a few miles from Calitzdorp...
Challenged myself by walking a few miles from Calitzdorp towards Oudtshoorn on the R62 ,enjoying the last of the Autumn sun.Alongside the road lot of cars past me,i didnt care about them. I was surounded by the beautiful landscape of Mountains ,karoo bossies and clear blue sky.Got a few honks from the heavy vehicles passing me by.That encouraged me even more .Made the walk pleasant experience.Few miles from my destination,i got tired and gave in.Got a lift from passing car.My phone was off.Must say pictures could not do justice for this walk. Must experience it your self. My resting place tonight is amazing .....i needed this ,after hectic working long weekend.Favorite place were the Museum. They also have bikes to hire at the Calitzdorp Tourism centre near the garage.Winetesting with the friendly staff

This little Klein Karoo town has a wonderful bygone era...
This little Klein Karoo town has a wonderful bygone era atmosphere. It's quiet, and all the amenities are closely set among the town centre, making walking around a great way to discover little hidden gems, like the Museum. There are plenty of wine tasting options too, some further away that would need the use of a car.
Restaurant options are limited, which is disappointing.
I also felt quite safe walking around, which was a great bonus!
Go, you'll enjoy it, and two nights is enough!

No fine dining but great for wine tasting.
No fine dining but great for wine tasting.
We sampled The Kranz under their grape vines, The Calitzdorp Cellar (stunning terrace view), Boplass. Lastly driving down a safe gravel road so typical of being off the beaten track and stopping at Du Swa Roo where we enjoyed informal fun tasting wines with the delightful and knowledgable Riana, sampling wine and tapas.
We hope to return one day:)

Calitzdorp is good for one or two nights stay.
Calitzdorp is good for one or two nights stay. It is a small town with not too much to do, about five lovely wine farms and a historical walk through town. Not many options at night where to have a meal although we did find the Bakhuis, with devine pizza's. I would definitely want to go back but this time to do some hiking trails and mtb.

Lovely historical town on the Route 62.
Lovely historical town on the Route 62. Visits to Boplaas and De Krants for port & wine (& gin & whisky) tastings are a MUST DO.
De Krants offers a lovely breakfast and GREAT COFFEE, both of which are impossible to find on a Monday morning in Calitzdorp
What a fantastic place, maybe the best place we have stayed in Southafrica. You can sit all day and Fall into trance over the view from the cottages. Magical. The cottages are comfortable and so well designed that you think you are in a classy hotel, but with personality. And a perfect personal service fron Gondwyn. And then all the things you can do, swim in the river, padle the canoe/kayak for free or take beautifull walks. Or just sit on the veranda and enjoy. Highly recommended. We were there for 5 days.

1945 was better than it is represented by the photos and descriptions given. It has been repainted, everything is spotless and well-maintained. Crisp white linen and towels. No pool was mentioned, but every property has its own private irrigation dam which was crystal clear and sparking (if chilly!). The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and all their properties at Matkiesvlei are well-considered and tastefully appointed. There was also a 2Mbit connection, which we didn't use but would be ample for most internet connectivity.
The hosts extended a warm and friendly welcome. Situated in a tranquil Calitzdorp neighborhood, the guest house offers convenient access to the main road and excellent dining options. Our room was generously sized, equipped with a Nespresso machine and snacks. We thoroughly enjoyed the exceptional breakfast at Port Guesthouse and are glad that we chose to stay for it.
The cottage is attractively-built and decorated with personality and care. The fine art, interesting crockery, soft furnishings and books are nice touches and we enjoyed the sounds of the stream at night and the views of masses of stars. The dirt-road drive there from Calitzdorp is also very scenic, with twists and turns and great views of the dam.
This beautiful cottage is fit for a magazine feature, it's superbly furnished and decorated, with everything you need for an off-the-grid get away/hide-away. Joe, the host, was friendly and very accommodating. It's located in the picturesque Groenfontein valley just outside of Calitzdorp, you wouldn't want to leave.
Very spacious, clean rooms, excellent comfortable beds, beautifully hot shower, great aircon (necessary for 37C heat). Reasonable value for money. Delicious local port and brandy at the attached restaurant at R15/R30 a glass! All-in-all a very pleasant and reasonable one night stopover.
A very warm welcome, especially from Liefie, the dog. A very good value for money option, lots of space to languish in beautiful garden. Swimming pool very handy in Karoo heat. Tranquility and serenity. Nice place from which to take stunning sunrise and sunset walks.
Our room was very comfortable with all the facilities we needed. There are plenty of tables and chairs in the garden that we enjoyed sitting at. The guest house is in a quiet part of town, our breakfast was great and our hosts very friendly and helpful.
Our room was lovely - spacious and clean. Nice touch with outside seating areas to enjoy the beautiful gardens and surrounding mountain views. Breakfast was a lovely addition - simple but very good. Would definitely stay there again.
A wonderful bed and breakfast with an excellent location in Calitzdorp. The staff were friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was delicious! Definitely recommended if you are on Route 62.
it is a beautiful guesthouse with a lovely spacious room. there is a kitchen and lounge available for use. the manager followed up regularly and is very friendly and helpful.
