My recent stay at APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower left me thoroughly impressed, thanks to several standout features that made my experience memorable.
First and foremost, the hotel's location is simply unbeatable. Situated in the heart of Osaka, it offers easy access to major attractions, dining venues, and shopping districts. Whether I was strolling along Midosuji Avenue or hopping on the subway to explore further afield, I appreciated the convenience of being centrally located.
One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the buffet breakfast offered at the hotel. Each morning, I was greeted by a tantalizing array of dishes, ranging from traditional Japanese fare to Western favorites. The quality and variety of options ensured that there was something to suit every palate, setting a deliciously satisfying tone for the day ahead.
Additionally, I found the hotel's hot bath area to be a blissful oasis of relaxation. After a long day of exploring Osaka's bustling streets, sinking into the soothing waters of the hot bath was the perfect way to unwind and rejuvenate. The tranquil ambiance and serene surroundings provided a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It is a newly build hotel and you notice it on the first look. Everything is spotlessly clean and in the good shape. The room size is what you would expect. Nothing super special but not matches box either. Bathroom is alright. What we loved the most, was the pillow selection and overall quality of sleep there.
What is worth to mention is also the breakfast selection and the staff running the hotel.
Art Hotel Osaka Bay Tower is directly accessible from Bentencho Station. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Osaka Station is an 8-minute train ride away from the hotel.

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.
However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.
The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.
The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

For a first time visitor to Japan, I am glad I chose Osaka, rather than Tokyo. Whilst we did visit Tokyo, it was too large and very busy with an extremely complex underground/railway network.
We stayed in two locations during our holiday. The first being appartments designed for short stay tourists. The second was a holiday home which worked out cheaper and was much more spacious. If you are travelling with a family I can highly recommend the second option. Whilst it was not centrally located, the area (Imaichi) was quiet and clearly was not used to tourists in that area (this was a good thing!) There was a more friendly atmosphere - and homely feel about the area.
Central Osaka was easier to navigate than Tokyo with fewer underground lines. Wether you wanted to stay in a city envronment or visit more rural areas such as Nara or the northern beaches of Tottori (Higashihama - 100m from the station!) - It could all be done with a cheaper JR Area Pass (rather than the more expensive all Japan JR Rail Pass). Kyoto and Lake Biwa was stunning. With easy access westwards towards Himeji, Fukuyama and Hiroshima, Osaka is a much more all rounded experience of Japan.
I would say self catering accommodation is the way to go. The food availalble from convenience stores and the local markets is freshly prepared, restaurant quality and ready to eat. I am amazed if the local population actually properly cook for themselves at all! I could not get over the size of the apples (huge)! Try the strawberry and cream sandwich - go on - do it!

Osaka has a lot to offer: short day trips to lovely cities (Kyoto, Kobe, Nara), nice sightseeing in walkable distances, huge shopping areas and a lot of activities to book!
The botanical garden has a Lightshow you don‘t wanna miss (but of course not always).
Tip: go and slide down the tower of Tsutenkaku- I loved it!! (1000 Yen)
The metro is easy to use and you could also book (electrical) bike vis Luup (app).

A perfect entry point towards the south of Japan and easily accessible to all other destinations in Japan and the Osaka castle and proximity to Kyoto was the logical decision to make Osaka our base upon arrival and departure.

Osaka is a wonderful city, more navigable than Tokyo with a more laid-back vibe. The amount of day trips that are possible could fill sever weeks - as well as Kyoto, NARA, Himeji and Hiroshima, give Kinosaki Onsen, Kurashiki or Mount Koya a try.

More compact than Tokyo, but still loads to do. Food and drink the main draw.... USJ worth a day (get there 90mins before opening time - download the app and set up party before arriving). KIX airport is a WAY out (like NRT in Tokyo).

Osaka is a great gateway for day trips to Kobe, Nara, and Kyoto. The places of interest are accessible by train and bus. There is a lot the city has to offer in terms of culture, entertainment, and shopping.
Location was great for us. We were able to walk to the lively Dotonbori area and the Osaka castle. Due to the heat though, we did taxi back from both locations at reasonable fares. Lawson and 7-11 shops very close by. Laundry facilities were great - 400 yen for a full wash load including detergent. Ice machine available as well. Room was compact - big bed, couch, charging cords, pyjamas and toiletries supplied. Very reasonable room rate for Japan. Clean and well-serviced. Recommend Hotel Cordia. (We didn’t try the restaurant.)
I didn't have breakfast much as I was up and about earlier than 6:30 for most of the days there. However, the location was great - easy access to Shin-Osaka train station in a 5 minute walk on the Midosuji Subway line, which lets you get to key train stations like Namba and Umeda within the city centre for attractions like Dotonbori and the Umeda Sky Building. Shin-Osaka train station is also well-positioned for the JR lines across Japan, allowing for day trips to places like Kyoto and Hiroshima.
Location, few minutes walk from Shin Imamiya station which has access to most of daytrips I have from Osaka like Himeji, Koyasan and Nara (Nankai + JR). Close also to Shinsekai (walking distance), Namba/Dotonbori (2 trains stops). Apartment is also fully furnished so you can experience what a Japanese household usually have, love the best the heated toilet and bathtub! Staff tries hard to communicate with you even if they also have hard time to speak English.
Excellent location, walking distance from both Osaka Station, Osaka Castle, and Dotonbori (about 40 minutes to each) Also really close to a metro station and several convenience stores. The area is also full of bars and restaurants of all types. The hotel itself was great, and the view from the breakfast room spectacular. The room was small, but that seems to be par for the course for hotels in Japan. Definitely recommended for a one-person stay!
The hotel was very clean and have enough space for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children). It's also a strone throw from the nearest station and there's a mall across the street. Osaka castle is within walking distance. The neighbourhood area is quiet and comfortable, but that also means there's nothing much to do at night. Breakfast was simple but good enough. There are Japanese as well as western options available in the buffet line.
We love the Swissotel Nankai Osaka and have stayed here a few times before. Location is great as it is right above Namba Station. Staff is always friendly and helpful and you always feel so welcome here. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby in walking distance, including the exciting Dotonbori area. Rooms are always great, quiet and clean. Views are wonderful too! We would highly recommend this hotel and we will be back!
I had an amazing stay in this hotel. The hotel's location near Namba Station and the Dotonbori area was incredibly convenient. The staff members were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Overall, everything about the hotel was great. If I ever find myself in Osaka again, I'll definitely come back to this hotel without any hesitation. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Osaka. :)
The hotel was in a great location (Umeda). It is a vibrant area with lots of restaurants. The facilities were excellent all toiletries were provided in the rooms, with extras like face moisturiser and makeup remover. Would definitely re this hotel when staying in Osaka. It’s a short taxi ride to Dotonbori. Japanese breakfast in the hotel was excellent.
Great option close to Shin-Osaka station, with easy access to JR lines, Shinkansen and Osaka metro. As with most APA hotels this is clean, smart and tidy. Rooms are small as with most Japanese hotels but well fitted and functional. The thing I really liked as an extra was the in-house onsen bath, which gave a really nice option for relaxation.
Spacious room compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in Osaka. Clean and comfortable. I love the bed and the linens, they are of high quality! They are very attentive and thoughtful. The walk from station to hotel is around 10mins, but you can cut through Namba Parks or Namba City so it’s still convenient. The staff are nice
Good location from Namba train station and close to Dotonbori street. Convenient store Family Mart is a few steps away.
Hotel staff is friendly and notice there are many trainee at front desk. They are good anyway.
Food is nice with salad and Japanese food. Same dish everyday but good enough for few days stay.
The hotel is comfortably located very near the Shin Osaka station. I just stayed for one night after arriving in Osaka in the evening, but I enjoyed my stay there. The room was clean, comfortable and relatively big. The breakfast combines western and Japanese style. There is a good ramen restaurant nearby.
Great hotel, minutes walk from train/bus with easy access to transport links to Kansai airport and Dotonbori Osaka Namba centre and direct train links to Koyoto and Nara. Hotel very kindly let us leave our luggage for a few days while we visited Kyoto and returned for a longer stay at Hearton.
This hotel was extremely well located in Osaka - very close to Namba station and walking distance from Dotonburi. The room was very large and spacious by Japan standards and very reasonably priced. Everything was clean and staff was helpful. Would stay here again.
The hotel is very well located in Namba, Osaka. Convenient access to multiple transit options, within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. This is par for the course for big cities like Osaka, Kyoto, and Japan. Still, the location was super convenient.
Very clean but very small rooms, like every other hotel we stayed in Japan. The location was great for us as it was in the middle between Osaka castle (which you can walk to - about 20 mins) and Dotonbori, Universal and the Aquarium.
Straightforward hotel offering down-to-earth rooms. Terrace for relaxing although it appeared to be under renovation during our stay. Free Wi-Fi. Convenient location near Dotonbori district and Namba station. Affordable price.
Overall this hotel amenities and room met my expectations and staff service is excellent. Very near to Shin Osaka station and convenient to travel to other Japan cities.. Book through Booking.com is easy and safe
We stayed at three different hotels in Japan; this one had the best breakfast. The location was great, the hotel is located right above a subway station and within walking distance of Osaka Castle.
