a wonderful place with so much to do - the sacre monte, lots and lots of historic gardens, in walking distance the Villa Panza with amazing art and gardens - have lunch there it is fabulous. Also just staying by the pool with its views is amazing it's a shame it closes it 7pm - it really warrants longer hours.

Despite traveling to Italy yearly, I had never visited Varese until now. I was initially hesitant to stay in Varese since I needed to be within an hour from Milan for the Salone del Mobile, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the city. Varese was vibrant both during the day and at night, with a plethora of excellent restaurants and cafes to explore. Its proximity to the stunning lakes of Como and Varese was also a huge plus. The sight of the snow-covered Alps provided a picturesque backdrop that made Varese even more special. The charming cobbled streets in the city center were lined with pretty buildings that showcased the history of the area. Although we only stayed for two days, I could have easily extended my stay for a week or more.

Varese is a great location for "lake hoping", where every day we saw a different lake. I recommend two restaurants: The Hotel Colonne and La Vecchia Varese. Both have excellent and authentic food, with friendly staff and wonderful service.

We traveled to Varese for 3 days to see the Sacro Monte located a few miles outside the town - part of a self guided tour of these unique sites in Lombardy and the Piedmonte. We ventured into the old town in search of a restaurant one night which was pretty frustrating - mostly bars and fast food in that area, so we ate at the hotel the other nights. The town is a mixture of beautiful older Italian villas and awful 1960’s and ‘70’s apartment buildings - kind of a hodgepodge. The areas in the hills around Varese are lovely with beautiful views.

We were passing through.
We were passing through. By bike we made a great tour into the mountains. Varese itself is not too interesting: just a rich-peoples city with good restaurantfacilities.
You can visit the lake(s) for a swim, you can bike and walk in the mounrains.
We just stayed for one night, but we had everything we needed. The room was big and clean.
The hotel is located directly at the lake varese.
The service at the reception was very nice and late check in at 8.30pm and late dinner was no problem! The staff in the restaurant got a little impatient, as we stayed too long, which might be understandable but in the same time they didnt tell as they were about to close.
We had a nice dinner though, the food was very good and prices are okay.
It was a nice short stay, thank you!
It's nice hotel with great location if you need a hotel for 1 night on the way to the airport of other locations in the north part of Italy. Free parking is definitely the benefit of this place, not so crowdy and good and clean rooms. I wouldn't expect anything special from this place in terms of either cozy design or excellent restaurant but it gives pretty decent service for money. again if you need a stay for 1 night on the road - that's exactly the place.
Very nice, cozy place to explore northern Italy (namely the Sacro Monte di Varese - which is very beautiful) + Lugano.
I rented a car and found it very convenient to visit Varese and Lake Como area (short stay), though there are a few other places worth visiting here.
The hosts were nice and accommodated a special breakfast request.
Would go again and recommend.
It’s a very large hotel, larger than it shows in the pictures. It’s a beautiful building (or at least it used to be) despite poor renovation, with a nice garden and beautiful view to Varese lake, rooms are large and balcony is great (although very small that cannot even fit a chair). Enough parking even at the busiest time if the year.
Everything was perfect!
The apartment was very clean and modern with great coffee machine and a lot of various treats!
The host was extremely helpful and friendly.
He shared with us some great addresses to discover the neighborhood.
We will definitely come back in the future and spend more time in Varese suites!
Beautiful early 19th century building with a rich history. I used to live in Varese and would see the hotel throning over the city every day, but I had never stayed there. We loved the newly renovated and stylish pool. Also the opulent breakfast buffet in a grand room with spectacular views of Lake Varese.
nice hotel with big, clean and comfortable rooms (booked standard). the lobby was inhibiting and the service was very kind. the hotel was only a 15 minutes walk away from the city Center. we were on our way from germany to tuscany and had an excellent stop at unahotels varese.
Very nice apartment for two people if you spend some time in Varese. The two train stations are just around the corner if you plan to visit some sights around (Milano, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como...). In the apartment you find everything you need. Clean, small and nice.
Stunning old Grand Hotel overlooking Varese. Spectacular views and the grounds are beautiful. The room was very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very stylish and serves excellent food at moderate prices. Fantastic experience.
Extreme cleanliness, excellent spaceous bathroom with a bidet and its own window. King size bed with four pillows! Very polite and attentive staff, excellent breakfast. Top class! Loved the Medusa pizzeria nearby. Love renaissance Varese always!
It was in a good location- A few minutes walking into restaurants and shops. The reason that we were there was visiting family and the hotel that we preferred was closed for renovations
The hotel is very close to the Varese’s old town which is reachable by walking. It has private closed free parking which is very convenient. The staff is very friendly and helpful
We very much enjoyed the authentic decor of the hotel,
located on a beautiful mountain with a view over the
city of Varese. The staff was lovely and the diners were
excellent!
