Lovely place to see birds, swim in some waterfalls, have some good coffee and chocolate on farms, get some craft beer. Very hot though— stay hydrated and pack sunscreen. I would recommend this place and advise hiking around to enjoy the nature.

Loved Minca so much.
Loved Minca so much. The town feels very catered to tourists and it was hard to find a cheap, local restaurant with a menu del dia for example but there are lots of good western-ish options and the wildlife/surrounding area is so beautiful. Highly recommend the Cerro Kennedy hike (stay at El Ramo) too.

Minca is a fantastic place to visit to get a sense of the mountainous area of Colombia and its lush and alluring jungle with all the glory of its flora and fauna. Only a short drive from the Santa Marta airport, you find ourself in a little village that is a haven to hikers, motocross bikers, and bird watchers. There are many places to eat with a variety of cuisines and for the most part the food was good. Our favorite activity was birdwatching. We had fantastic outings booked through Jungle Joe. Our guides Tony Martin and Gustavo Viloria were both extremely professional and informed. We loved the La Vittoria Coffee Plantation tucked away in the jungle. Another favorite was Rio Elemento, a hotel/restaurant on the banks of the river with an awesome swing that carries you over the rushing waters.

It is very pretty and I appreciated the access to other types of food since we had been traveling the Colombia for a bit and had been exclusively eating traditional colombian food. You cannot speak about Minca without mentioning the bugs, they are terrible! the worse part is you don’t really see them or know when you are being bit. You just look down and your legs are covered in bites. Also there is a new age spirituality vibe that is strongly felt in the town.

It’s not a party town but it’s beautiful, scenic, has lovely waterfalls! Nice place to wind down after long hikes. Either take mototaxis everywhere is you don’t want to walk or hike! Ask for a helmet!
The location is amazing, it features an oriel looking at Santa Marta and the sea, where you are offered to watch the sunset, get some drinks (at a reasonable price) and enjoy the fire in the evening. Meals offered are a bit above average for Colombia, though juice is not included so the full meal tends to be a bit pricey, which might be understandable due to the location. Staff is beyond friendly and welcoming. Facilities are well decorated, you can walk in a private trail to a small waterfall. In short, a place to return.
One if our favourite places to stay at in all of Colombia! We would gladly go back any time. If you don’t mind walking a bit up hill and through the forest to get there, you are rewarded with tranquility and peace. It’s a 20 minute walk from the centre of Minca on the way to Marinka waterfalls. You are surrounded by nature and Nore and Carlo are super lovely and attentive hosts. There is a small bridge crossing the river now. Having a flash light is essential in order to find your way around at night.
Loved the views and the sunsets. The food was delicious, fresh and varied. The daily fresh flowers were a wonderful touch. The cuisine used local ingredients and Colombian recipes. The wine selection was limited but excellent. The staff were attentive. The design of the buildings were sympathetic and thoughtfully crafted. Both Pilar and Dani were responsive, kind and knowledgeable. The trip to the waterfall with the coffee plantation was a good adventure - the mules and horses were well cared for.
Very basic. Upon arrival it didn’t seem right. The Colombian owner was kind, unfortunately his partner was inebriated from when we arrived and that got worse when we got back from a trip into town - we could hear a loud argument. There were two young girls staying next door and they were both terrified during the night, as the one owner (as well as someone else) opened their room and looked into their room several times at night. We felt very uncomfortable and unsafe.
Absolutely awesome stay at Mundo Nuevo. All details of the hotel were carefully and tastefully selected. The views, the warm pool, the gardens, lobby area and food were all great. Doing yoga in the morning with the Punta view could not be beat. Also direct access to many hiking areas was very convenient. We did the hike to Candelaria and Cascadas Escondido. Beautiful, wild paths. Hikes were medium to hard in my opinion.
Best hostel in Minca and Colombia, staff are super friendly and welcoming, location and facilities are amazing, you have a giant pool, a cool river to swim in, a bar a restaurant and a small gym..
The hostel is located super close to the small town of minca so you have everything you need here in the hostel or maximum 5 minutes walking distance to town.. Definitely stay here if you're planning to visit Minca 😁☺️
We had a really good time at hotel Siembra. The staff was super friendly, the location was excellent and the swimming pool had an amazing view of Minca's tropical hills. The room was nice, clean and cosy. The food and cocktails were very good. We were there on sunday and monday. Sunday was a little bit busier but monday was quite and peaceful. In general we had an excellent stay and we would love to come back.
The Sweet Harmony property is beautiful in a peaceful natural setting. Our room was comfortable and very cute, clean and the shower had hot water (a perk on this part of Colombia). The host was lovely and even allowed us for a late breakfast as we arrive a little after the closing time. The walk to the village is reasonably short (head lamp required at night) and charming with the bridge crossing.
Incredible vibe, so many different places to hang out depending on whether you feel social or quiet (the view from the bar at sunset is unparalleled). The breakfast was excellent, the huts were very cool and private, and the staff is so sweet, kind and helpful. I love this place, and would come back to Colombia someday just to stay here and experience Minca again. 10/10
The views in this hotel are exceptional, our view from the room was so inspiring and in the restaurant you can see the sea and the city afar in the middle of the mountains, giving breathtaking sunsets. I really liked the hotel distribution, each room has it independent hub, and they are connected to beautiful pathways crossing lush foliage and amazing mountain views.
I absolutely loved everything. The rooms are just beautiful. Amazing eco-design, so it fits right in with the beautiful nature that Sol the Minca is located in. Most comfortable beds we’ve had in Colombia. Frederico and his family are very welcoming, passionate about their business and will help you with everything. The food is also amazing!! Would 100% recommend.
What a beautiful spot, right on the river. We loved being able to walk down to the river for a swim, so refreshing for the hot afternoons in Minca. The rooms are clean and modern, with air conditioning, a super comfortable bed and lots of space! Loved having breakfast overlooking the river. We sadly only had one night here, would have loved to stay longer.
Great staff and place to stay. Wonderful breakfast. Nice to have a pool to cool off in after hiking back from the falls.
Lots of sitting area around the pool and up in the breakfast area. Great view of the mountains and down in to Santa Marta from the roof top. Oh and the best hot shower we have had in Colombia.
We stayed in the tree house and it was absolutely spectacular. A gorgeous retreat to come and relax at - they offer free yoga classes and have delicious healthy food and a beautiful river where you can cool down. It’s a few minutes by motorcycle to Minca town and a great overall place to unwind and enjoy nature
Views from this hotel are excellent. Just plan to arrange transportation with the owner from Minca to be able to navigate the roads successfully. Food was great and the staff were very nice and accommodating to our preferences. The owner helped us arrange tours/outings which were also fantastic.
Mai who works there was very helpful in assisting me to rearrange my booking, get my cases to my room, look a different cheaper options for an ongoing stay - thank you. WiFi was the best I’ve had in Colombia.
The hostel is located in a quiet area and the rooms have a nice balcony. The breakfast changes each day which is rare in Colombia. The airport shuttle the hotel can arrange is also great.
